Jivani meets Greer amid ongoing Canada-U.S. trade tensions<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Conservative MP Jamil Jivani<\/strong> travelled to Washington on Wednesday for a meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer<\/strong> and representatives of Canadian business interests, as Canada continues to navigate trade negotiations with the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Canadian Embassy confirmed it would have a representative present at the meeting.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A familiar face in Washington<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

This is not Jivani’s first visit to the U.S. capital. Earlier this year, the Ontario MP met with Vice-President JD Vance<\/strong> \u2014 a longtime personal friend \u2014 and stopped by the White House, where he said he briefly encountered President Donald Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

That earlier trip also included a meeting with Greer. Afterward, Jivani said he hoped to contribute to Prime Minister Mark Carney<\/strong>‘s efforts to negotiate a new trade agreement with the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Poilievre keeps his distance<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre<\/strong> publicly distanced himself from Jivani following that first Washington visit, stating that the MP speaks only for himself and not for the Conservative Party.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Poilievre, who did not travel to Washington during his own recent U.S. trip, said Wednesday he had no information to share about the purpose of Jivani’s latest visit.
