The Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) has extended a heartfelt invitation to the Nigerian political class, specifically to those who are Biafran citizens by birth.

This invitation is for the pivotal event known as the Declaration of the Restoration of Independence of Biafra Convention (DRIBC 2024), set to take place from November 29th to December 3rd, 2024, in Lahti, Finland. The message was prominently shared on the Prime Minister’s official X account.

“The official invitation shows the significant steps we are taking toward the restoration of Biafra’s independence,’ part of the letter read.

The event will not only gather Biafran delegates but will also serve as a platform to discuss the ongoing violations of rights experienced under Nigerian rule which is one of the reasons Biafrans are leaving the former most populous African nation.

The Biafra government has assured that all preparations for accreditation have been completed, and interested attendees are encouraged to reach out via the provided contact email.

As articulated in the invitation, the aim is to foster a vision where all individuals are treated equally under the creator’s gaze. The Biafra movement emphasizes its alignment with the United Nations Charter regarding the right to self-determination and adherence to international law on human rights.

The 2024 Finland convention represents a crucial moment in this ongoing struggle, with the formal declaration of Biafran independence marking the beginning of a renewed effort for sovereignty and defense against perceived aggressions from Nigeria.

Countless Biafrans have expressed their support for the declaration of Biafra’s independence on social media and in person, as seen by the large turnout in the BRGIE-conducted self-referendum, which is currently ongoing.
