The Biafra Government in exile led by Prime Minister Simon Ekpa has continued to make progress with its diplomatic engagements with US lawmakers as the BRGIE through its Finance Minister Ogechukwu Nkere met with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), a prominent figure in the United States Senate.
This meeting centered around the ongoing struggle of the Biafran people for independence, highlighting pressing issues faced by the region ahead of it formal declaration of independence in December.
Key Discussion Points
During the meeting, Minister Nkere presented a comprehensive briefing on Biafra’s quest for sovereignty. He elaborated on the successful self-referendum conducted by Biafrans, which has gained international attention and support.
Additionally, Minister Nkere shed light on the Nigerian government’s ongoing persecution of the Biafran people. This persecution involves alarming connections to various Islamic terrorist groups, which further complicates the region’s quest for independence.
At the conclusion of their meeting, Minister Nkere presented Senator Cruz with a symbolic gift—the Biafra Charter and a Biafra pin.
The discussion with Senator Cruz represents a crucial step in garnering international support for Biafra, paving the way for future dialogues and potential alliances that could influence the region’s political landscape.
Recall that TBPA News published last week that Minister Nkere alongside other BRGIE officials met with senior members of the US lawmakers including House Speaker Mike Johnson and handed them the Biafran charter after discussing Biafran independence.
Although the Nigerian government still pretends to be living in denial, its lawmakers are beginning to see realities considering the inroads that the BRGIE is making with its diplomatic engagements with top US officials.
